Henry's 2nd Birthday - belated....extremely

I originally started this blog to chronicle family events, holidays, etc. In between ranting and raving about breast cancer and other things, the chronicling was pushed to the side.

That, and the fact that I couldn't find my camera chord for two months and then realized I didn't even need it.

Oh well. The family stuff is back and it's catch up time.

Henry William Starkey turned 2 in December.  Having a baby in December is a little rough. Their birthday is always in danger of being swept under the rug to make way for Christmas events. Being an only child, I know how important birthdays are to children so I always make an effort to do something that will single the day out as a special occasion. The problem is when you live in a tiny house and it's cold outside, it's always hard to try and find some kind of fun activity for a group of children. This year we went to Red Robin AKA The loudest place on earth.

I chose Red Robin for several reasons. The kids don't have to worry about being quiet so the parents don't have to worry about keeping them quiet. Plus they have alcohol. It's a win-win.

I have to say everyone had a good time. Good friends and family. Most importantly, Henry had a blast.

Dear Henry,

This year you have continued to surprise us. More importantly, you have the most stubborn, hilarious, giggly, loving, stubborn personality. You break out into dance for no apparent reason. You give your brother hugs when he is upset. You boss the dog around. You love to play in the dirt, eat the dirt, and carry the dirt with you wherever you go. You talk to yourself and we would LOVE to know what you are saying. You blurt out complete sentences when you think no one is listening.

We could not be more proud or happy to call you our son. We love you more than you will ever know. To the moon and back, my love.

Love ALWAYS,
Mommy, Daddy, Georgie, and your buddy, Ada

P.S. Yes, that is a Santa cake. I need to try harder this year :)

  1. This is so sweet! He looks like he had a blast, so cute! It's all good about the Santa cake, Ellorie's birthday is 12/18 so she kind of gets screwed out of an official celebration too. We combined the kids parties and celebrated in January this year and they didn't care. They were just happy to eat cake! Glad you guys had fun!
